The internal and external threads on the part create undercuts which prevent a simple mold design. Solutions include side action cams, threaded inserts, and collapsible core. Side action cams will only allow for external threads. Threaded inserts can produce accurate internal and external threads, but the long cycle time will increase part cost. A collapsible core can quickly produce internal threads, which will be used in this mold.
